Eligibility for residential care

Low Care

Eligibility for entry into low care accommodation is assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) and is independent of SwanCare Group.  The level of government subsidy is determined according to the care needs of the resident.

High Care

Eligibility for entry into high care accommodation is assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) and is independent of SwanCare Group.  The level of government subsidy is determined according to the care needs of the resident.

Daily Care Fees

All residents in low and high care residential accommodation, including respite residents, will be asked to pay a basic daily fee, as a contribution towards accommodation costs and living expenses, like meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling. Residents (other than respite residents) may also be asked to pay an income tested fee, depending on their income and level of care.
 

Accommodation Bond - low care

Residents requiring low care may be asked to pay an accommodation bond which is largely refundable at the end of the residency.  Residents eligible for concessional accommodation should inquire through the Manager Admissions regarding availability.  A waiting period may apply. 
 

Accommodation Charge - high care

Residents requiring high care may be asked to pay an accommodation charge.  The Department of Health and Ageing will write to you to advise the maximum amount of accommodation charge you may be asked to pay, based on the value of your assets.

Residential aged care within Australia is regulated by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing under the Aged Care Act 1997.  All SwanCare Group residential care facilities are fully accredited by the Aged Care Standards Agency.

SwanCare Group recommends that independent information and advice be sought from a government appointed Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) on their helpline, from a Centrelink office or a hospital social worker.
