Independent Living
Who is eligible?
SwanCare Group operates communities designed for people aged 55
and over who are retired from full-time paid employment, are in
reasonable health and able to take care of their daily living needs.
Applicants in receipt of the Disability Pension who are able to
live independently may also apply.
The completed application form for Bentley Park
is an ‘expression of interest’ in receiving an offer
of accommodation. An interview is required prior to an offer of
accommodation.
Charges and Fees
The rights of residents in Independent Living Units and Serviced Units are protected by the WA Government’s Retirement Villages Act 1992 and the Code of Fair Practice for Retirement Villages 2003. Service fees/rent charges for resident funded accommodation
and rental units are charged fortnightly and may be reviewed from
time to time.
Services provided include:
- Maintenance and repair of exterior and interior in each unit
- Onsite security and emergency support
- Water rates
- Rubbish removal
- Use of communal laundries (where a laundry is not part of the
residence)
- Centre administration
- Electricity for street lighting and other common services
- Building insurance
- Maintenance of all common areas including grounds, gardens,
roads, paths
- Pharmacy delivery
- Social facilities
- Resident Support Services
Power, telephone and personal property insurance
are not included and are the responsibility of the resident.
Residency Contract
This legal agreement clearly defines the rights and responsibilities
of the resident, security of tenure and includes a financial statement
of the ingoing payment and variable rental or resident-funded service
fee.
