A fantastic system that will help SwanCare Group to become one of the leaders in food service delivery…
A significant portion of our residents are unable to consume food in its regular form because of a lessened ability to chew or swallow.
At the moment these residents are forced to resort to prepackaged, blender-pureed or other mechanically altered meals in order to obtain basic nutrition. The result is an unattractive, unappetising presentation which retains none of its original appearance.
Mealtimes can provide a bit of entertainment and structure to otherwise dreary and uneventful days. The prospect of sitting down to a shapeless mass of tasteless, colorless, pureed food or pre-packaged baby food is disheartening, takes away an individual’s self-respect, and can often exacerbate the feelings of depression and isolation already experienced.
To address these issues we are introducing a fantastic system that will help SwanCare Group to become one of the leaders in food service delivery.
The new system presents pureed food in a form that retains some amount of the colour, form, consistency and nutritional value of the conventional solid food product from which it came, while possessing the qualities necessary for the person experiencing chewing and swallowing difficulties.
This improved presentation, which increases visual appetite appeal, is achieved by depositing the food mixture into an individual mold or form which serves to sculpt it into a desired shape. The mold will represent the shape and detail of the original solid food. For example, food mixture of corn is placed in a mold which forms it into a shape representing a piece of corn on the cob, a beef mixture can be molded into the form of a steak, and a mixture derived from chicken can be molded into the form of a boneless chicken breast.
Nutritional supplements may be added to enhance the existing nutritional value of the food. A specific nutritional supplement which gives a recognised nutritional advantage to those suffering from a particular illness (such as diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, Alzheimers Disease, osteo-arthritis, or oncological cardiovascular conditions) may be added.
Prior to serving, various methods of preparation are possible including microwaving or a regular convection oven. |
