a comprehensive tailor-made training structure for all levels of staff
Recognising that our team here at Bentley Park is the essential ingredient in the success of our organisation, we have developed a comprehensive tailor-made training structure for all levels of staff that will build on the skills already developed through new learning opportunities.
All care staff have completed training in medication administration and are continuing to develop new skills with the support of our Registered Nursing staff. Further training will be conducted in the coming months to ensure that our staff are fully equipped to meet the needs of our residents.
SwanCare Group accredited training partner, McCusker Learning and Development will be conducting training in Allied Health and Food Service skills for all care staff from mid October 08.
A further training initiative, conducted by SwanCare Group’s Risk Manager Shelley Curtis, with the assistance of Gail King from Royal Perth Hospital, will be a basic “Clinical Care Skills” program for care staff commencing in October.
All training programs are scheduled to be completed in readiness for the opening of Kingia in February 2009.
new stuff for nurses Our Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses have also embarked on further training assisted by Arlene Quinn, a professional development trainer. This will continue over the next 12 months, assisting and supporting their advancement as supervisors and managers of the future for our new care facility. These meetings will also help our organisation in considering other initiatives for alternate care delivery models.
person-centred carer A new role of Person-Centred Carer (PCC) will be implemented to enrich the lives of our residentsand staff.
As the training program unfolds and staff embrace their new roles, this will enable us to meet the needs of our residents in a much more individualised and holistic way. It will provide a more rewarding carer-to-resident experience for our staff and residents will feel more content and satisfied.
Our new workforce model including the PCC role will be implemented in both the new Kingia facility and the existing Tandara facility so that a continuum of care is achieved for all of high care. The model will be slowly introduced and progress in keeping with the training program as it is implemented this year. |
