Anyone who has worked in aged care knows it can be really challenging at times. The work can be demanding but at the same time, it offers an incredible reward.
At SwanCare, whatever your role, your contribution really matters and we try to recognise the achievements of our people in big and small ways, every day. Because of this, our people created the Feathers Rewards Program so we could focus even more on staff achievements. Since its beginning, we have had countless nominations and worthy winners of our ‘nominee of the month’ award.

Why we focus on people
Every day at SwanCare, our team goes above and beyond to deliver the highest level of care and compassion to each of our wonderful residents. Our people and their strong work ethic are at the heart of our success and that’s why we love recognising our team across all roles and levels.
We are a truly connected organisation, proud of our people and what they achieve every day. In return for the focus our people place on residents, we focus on supporting our team to be the best they can be.
How Feathers works
The way Feathers works is simple - anyone from our community, including staff, residents or their family, can nominate staff for great work they’ve done. It can be anything from spending extra time with our residents to delivering a great project, to helping family members through difficult times.
The criteria for nominating staff for recognition are based on our SwanCare values with seven categories which people can be nominated in, including teamwork, leadership and customer service.
People can accumulate Feathers rewards points and then redeem prizes via an online prize catalogue. Isser, one of our Registered Nurses, used his points to buy an iPod which he loves taking running!
2017 Awards - Recognising our people, together
For the first time in 2017, we launched our Annual Feathers Awards Night where staff came together to celebrate our achievements and the nominees of the monthly awards. With so many outstanding nominees, it was too hard to choose just one overall winner for the year - so we chose two!
Congratulations to Sathish, our Head Chef, and Enock, our Activities Officer, who were both nominated throughout the year within the category of customer service. Sathish’s commitment to bringing residents an unbeatable dining experience and Enock’s patience and positive attitude made them worthy recipients of our annual award.
Of course, the Feathers program is just one initiative. We like to think we do everything we can to identify the great efforts of everybody and to acknowledge that every day. Whether it comes from managers praising and thanking, or better still, from your colleagues who appreciate what you bring and highlight that to others - SwanCare is a place where you will feel you belong and where you will make your best work count.
