Have you marked your calendars? On Saturday the 18th of October the Bentley Park Leisure Precinct will once again be buzzing with excitement and community spirit as we welcome back the much-loved Bentley Park Open Day & Fete.
Following the incredible success of last year’s revamped event, anticipation is building for another day filled with artisan markets, delicious food, live entertainment, exhibitions and the spirit that makes Bentley Park so special. Residents, families and friends are all invited to join in the celebration.
Last year’s transformation from a competitive ‘show’ to a community-focused open day and fete was a hit and it’s clear this event is on its way to becoming a cherished tradition. Highlights included the ever-popular petting zoo, performances by the SwanCare Allsorts Choir and Line Dancers and an array of resident-made art and craft displays.
Planning for this year’s event began almost immediately after the last one wrapped up. A dedicated committee of retirement living residents, Maureen G., Thelma C., Bev H., Phyl L., Margot H., Terry B. and Robin H. have been meeting monthly with Community Living Coordinator Matt U. to brainstorm, refine and prepare for the big day. Their goal? To make this year’s event even smoother, more inclusive and even more memorable.
“We’re proud to have added more stalls this year,” shares Thelma. “Our residents have been working hard all year to showcase their talents and we’re focused on creating a family-friendly atmosphere where everyone can enjoy a taste of what Bentley Park has to offer.”
The fete is more than just a fun day out, it’s a chance for residents to share their skills, raise funds and connect with the wider community. Proceeds from each stall go directly back into supporting the clubs and groups that enrich life at Bentley Park.
“We have such a vibrant village,” says Maureen. “We’d love to share the amazing talents of our residents with everyone!”
Top tip from the committee: Arrive early and bring cash! The morning tea, sausage sizzle and raffle tickets are hot favourites and tend to sell out by midday. Early birds will have the best chance to explore all the stalls and enjoy the full experience.
Important reminder: Please bring cash, but avoid large bills like $50 or $100 notes, as EFTPOS will be limited.
